It's true that reaching your income goal as a salon owner requires hard work, but if you develop strategies and set up systems, you will get there without killing yourself in the process.
It's natural to think the only way to make more money is to keep your doors open later, serve more clients and sell every product under the sun. But the truth is, that is not the right strategy to implement because it simply doesn't work.
What it does is wear you down and leave you overwhelmed and exhausted. Is it really worth reaching your goal income if you are so burnt out that you can't even enjoy it?
I love the saying ‘work smarter, not harder' because in the salon industry, working smart makes all the difference!
Here are a few things you need to do to get to that income goal you are dreaming of!
💲Use technology – Salon software allows you to keep track of all your finances and run reports to see what you need to tweak. It also helps you organize your client database, offer online booking and use automated messaging/emails.
Systems are so important! Anything that can be automated can save you time and we all know that time is money!!
💲Understand your finances – Keeping up with income and expenses, knowing what's coming in and what's going out is so important. Make sure you are monitoring all spending and running reports so you know what is working and what is not.
There are so many salon owners losing money and they don't even know it because they do not understand their finances. Run those reports daily so you can keep a watch on all the numbers and know if you need to adjust your spending. 💲Know your client base – Knowing what your client base needs and wants is so important. There may be a need that you are not addressing and you are missing out on profits that could make all the difference in leveling up your salon business. Talk to your clients and stay up to date on trends and what is being offered in other salons.
You could be missing out on a a lot of money because you are not offering a service that would bring a steady stream of new and returning clients through your door.
Please don't kill yourself packing your schedule with so many clients that you never get to take a breath, that is NOT the way to make more money in your salon business!
