This week is one of my favorite weeks of the year because we will celebrate Thanksgiving! November seems to bring out the best in us and focus on gratitude and thankfulness!!
As a business owner, I am grateful for my clients and employees and I know you are too. But sometimes you may struggle with coming up with ways to express your gratitude to them, so I’m going to help you with some ideas.
We all know that people want to feel valued and your clients are no different. Any time you can show them that you care and you value them they will be appreciative. This is not something that should be done just during the week of Thanksgiving, but all year round!
Below is a list of simple, free or inexpensive ways you can show your clients and employees that you are grateful for them. My challenge to you is to pick at least one item from the list and incorporate it into your salon business this year.
Acknowledge Important Dates
If you use a CRM (customer relationship management) system, like online booking, then you can enter your clients’ birthdays and set it up to automatically send them a birthday email. This is an easy, and free way, to acknowledge a special day for your clients. For your employees, bring them a special treat on their special day.
Handwrite a Note or Card
In a society of texts and emails and all things automated, handwritten notes and cards are few and far between. If you receive something handwritten from someone then you know they care
because they took the extra time to do something for you that they could have done quickly if they used technology instead. If your client or employee has a death in their family, gets married,
refers a new client to you, or has any type of special event happen in their life, give them a handwritten note or card and it will absolutely make a positive impact!
Host an Event
Events that honor your clients and employees are a great way to show that you are grateful for them. It does not have to be over the top; a laid back, low-key event can be just as effective as a big party. Maybe you can tie it to a holiday or just have it every year on the anniversary of your salon business. Invite your clients to come in for refreshments or to shop your products at a
discounted price. You could even have a drawing for a prize for anyone who attends. This will give you a chance to interact and socialize with your clients and say thank you for being loyal
customers. For employees, you may close the salon early and take them out to dinner, or you may can plan a mini getaway to spend time together outside of the salon.
Support Your Clients’ Businesses
Have you heard the saying, ‘Do business with those that do business with you’? Basically, it means if you have a need for a product or service and one of your clients is offering that product
or service, consider buying from them rather than a random business. I’m sure lots of your clients are also business owners and if they offer something you need then you can show your appreciation to them by also being their client.
Give a Shout Out
Use your social media accounts to give shout outs to your clients. If someone brings you a treat when they come in for their appointment, like a cup of coffee or some candy, post about how it
made your day and tag them. If your client was recognized for something, like maybe they got a community service award or finished their first marathon, give them a shout out and share how
they have inspired you. It’s always flattering when someone acknowledges you and gives you an unexpected shout out. You can do this for employees as well, or do a spotlight post each month on one of them.
There are lots of other ways you can show your clients and employees that you appreciate them. It’s really the small, thoughtful acts of kindness that make the biggest impact. If you have an idea or something you have already incorporated for your salon business share it in the comments.
Make sure to take the time to show your gratitude for all of your clients and employees, this week, and all year long!
I hope you have a very blessed Thanksgiving!!
