The number of consumers who have willingly opted in to receive text messages from a business is around 50 million. And since text marketing is a relatively new marketing strategy, it’s very clear that text marketing has grown very quickly!
It’s hard to think of any other way that you could be more closely connected to your customers than through a text. Most people would agree that they are more likely to check their text message than they are to check their email, voicemail, or physical mailbox. This totally makes sense because our phones are on us at all times and a text feels personal which makes it tempting to check it immediately.
I recently read some stats on Learn Hub about SMS marketing ( this means text marketing) and I wanted to share them with you because they are very interesting!
✅ 82% of people say they open every text message they receive.
✅ 50% of consumers say they would opt into an SMS loyalty program if they were offered flash sales, deals, or coupons in return.
✅ 86% of small business owners who utilize text messaging say texting offers higher engagement than email communication.
These stats should get you excited about the opportunities for your salon business if you start utilizing text marketing with a strategy and consistently!
Now, we can’t talk about how great it is to have direct access to your customers through texting without warning you about how you can go wrong with this strategy. With anything that has power and potential to be a successful tool for your business, you have to be responsible and not cross certain boundaries or you could push customers away. When a customer opts in to receive your texts they are allowing you access to a direct line of communication with them, they are placing a certain amount of trust in you.
They are trusting that you will not abuse this gift they are giving you, meaning you will not blow up their phone 24/7. No one wants to be bombarded with repeated messages or receive messages that are irrelevant. So make sure you are only sending out important, valuable messages and that they are timely, and spaced out.
There is power in text marketing and I don’t want you to miss out! So if you aren’t already using this marketing strategy, do your research and get started ASAP!
